💭 Hyper-personal media

Is AI ushring us to an era of “hyper-personalised media”? A time when each person can request the exact type of article, video, story, etc. that they like?

Draft

Work in Progress: This is still being written…

The exercise I did with Claude around AI predictions offered me a first example where I was co-building and requesting the type of article I wanted to read, with the angles I wanted to see explored.

Projecting such an example into a far distant1 future, does this mean a world where media becomes something self-served on demand?

I mean, we already broke the “when” alignment of media a long time ago:

  • Before: The same media for everyone, consumed at the same time by everyone
  • After: The same media for everyone, consumed at each person’s time of choice

Will AI drive us to break the “what” alignment as well? 🤔

  • Before: The same media for everyone, consumed at each person’s time of choice
  • After: Each person’s choice of media, consumed at each person’s time of choice

  • TODO: Explore what it would be for books / movies
  • TODO: Explore the “creativity / no inovation / more of the same” angle of criticism — i.e. we already have that! (formulaic media: pop music, sitcoms, romcoms, action movies)

  1. … or not so distant, depending who you ask. ↩︎
